About A View Of The Woods is the debut release of a truly original Austin band named Belhome. The songs and arrangements of violin, guitar, bass, drums and boy/girl harmonies, find a clearing somewhere between influences such as Wilco, The Shins, Yo La Tengo, and Americana, and there, create a warm, infectious brand of independent music.

Over the course of six months vocalist/guitarist, John Spae, traveled the western U.S. for the hell of it, strumming a $20 acoustic guitar, eventually settling into the first chords and lyrics that would become Belhome. Upon returning to Austin he sat down with violinist/vocalist Andrea Couch and the songs began to take shape. Soon after, Eddie Sykes and Jeremy Ballard joined to add their rolling rhythms and fill in the gaps. Since Belhomes formation in 2003 they have built a loyal following of friends and fans based on their live performances in which they strip down the layered production of A View Of The Woods to its raw, emotional core, yet maintain the dynamic elegance and complexity of the recording.

Lyrically, Spae touches on themes of impermanence and the ideas of home and duality on the album. Sometimes hauntingly defiant as in the introspective Construct: "You cant take what Ive never had." Other times detailing contrasts in The Black Part of Light: The black part of light, stands up to the night, as the bright part of day, puts us in our place.

Belhome intends to play live shows and steadily build their following as they work on promoting A View Of The Woods.
